Reformer Pilates & Physiotherapy Classes

Reformer Pilates physiotherapy classes at Calm Physiotherapy are a specialised, low-impact exercise service designed to improve pelvic floor strength, flexibility, and core stability. Led by an expert pelvic physiotherapist, this mindful approach restores physical well-being.

How we can help

At Calm Physiotherapy, our Reformer Pilates physiotherapy groups combine the principles of traditional Pilates with specialised low-platform reformer equipment and expert clinical knowledge. These gentle, low-impact classes focus heavily on enhancing your balance, physical conditioning, and deep core stability without placing excessive stress on your joints. Because every exercise is highly modifiable, you can work safely at an intensity level that perfectly matches your current physical capacity and safely challenge yourself when you feel ready.

Our classes are instructed by Brittany Bourne, a dedicated pelvic floor physiotherapist with advanced expertise in pregnancy care and clinical Pilates. Brittany expertly tailors each session at the Nuform Pilates Studio in Gerringong to ensure a safe, nurturing environment for men and women alike. Additionally, our Pilates-trained pelvic physiotherapist, Julia Urquhart, works alongside our clinical team to provide the essential 1:1 pre-class consultations. During these initial assessments, we utilise real-time ultrasound to evaluate your pelvic floor function and core activation patterns, ensuring your clinical exercise program is perfectly customised to your goals.

Common conditions we can help with

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. If you are a new patient or have a new condition, we encourage a 1:1 consultation first. This session includes a health screening, injury assessment, and a real-time ultrasound of your lower tummy to provide immediate feedback on your pelvic floor and core activation patterns before you join the group environment.

In most cases, absolutely! Staying active during pregnancy is highly beneficial, and our classes specifically engage the pelvic floor muscles. Our instructor will provide specific position modifications to keep you and your baby safe. However, if you experience high-risk complications like preeclampsia, an incompetent cervix, or persistent bleeding, you should avoid core stability exercise classes.

Because recovery times vary, we generally recommend waiting 6–8 weeks after childbirth, as most initial healing has occurred by then. This is the perfect time to return to gentle, low-impact exercise under our instructor's expert guidance. You can, however, start gentle pelvic floor exercises at home much sooner.

Please wear comfortable, stretchy clothing that allows you to move freely. You will need to bring a water bottle, a small hand towel, and any personal medications (like asthma puffers). For safety and hygiene, Pilates grip socks are required and are available for purchase at the studio if needed.

We understand that life happens! While we cannot offer refunds or adjusted term pricing for missed sessions, we do provide one make-up class in an alternative session or a credit towards the following term per 6-week package.
